Piet only uses physical attacks like Grenade, which deals ranged physical fire damage to three adjacent targets, kupo, so although he's resistant to break debuffs, it pays to use abilities like Power Breakdown and Protectga to lower the damage you take. He also uses Dodge to temporarily raise his Evasion. Piet has a Slight Weakness to fire, so use abilities that deal fire damage, kupo! He has no resistance to Slow, so use abilities like Slowga to outpace him.
